Deep in the heart of Berkshire skirted to the south by the M4, at the midpoint between Oxford and London, Reading lies in the Thames valley before the river gets to the capital.

Noted as a popular commuter town for London, Reading has attracted plenty of business and related employment for itself - several large British companies and the UK offices of multinational conglomerates are based in the town.

The town has seen extensive growth since the 1960's, with new suburbs and developments appearing in recent years and hence connected industries, such as out-of-town retail, have flourished in these areas.

Every summer the town stages perhaps its best known event in the form of the Reading Festival, the country's second largest outdoor music festival after Glastonbury - for lovers of more eclectic, international music, drama and dance, the town also hosts the annual WOMAD festival.
